70th Anniversary Special Edition LandCruiser Build
To celebrate 70 years of Toyota’s arguably toughest off-road vehicles, the LandCruiser, saw the release of a limited edition run of 600, 70th Anniversary LandCruisers inclusive of only 80 wagons. This special-edition LandCruiser has been transformed by the TPC into an off-road behemoth, fully equipped for any journey, whether it's to the challenging terrains of Cape York or beyond.
Bar Work & Vehicle Protection
The front of this Cruiser has been fortified with an ARB Deluxe Big Tube Bullbar, which not only offers robust protection but also serves as a foundation for mounting additional accessories. For side protection and easier vehicle access, ARB Summit Side Steps have also been fitted.
The underbody hasn’t been forgotten, shielded with Custom Offroad bash plates, including transfer plates, colour matched to the body.
Completing the protection package is a full vehicle clear Paint Protection Film (PPF) wrap, guarding the iconic Sandy Taupe paint against scratches and harsh elements.
Accessories
This 70th Anniversary Wagon has been kitted out starting with a12,000lb Carbon Tank Winch, complete with synthetic rope and a dedicated switch for the 76 Series. For pneumatic needs and tire inflation, an ARB Twin Compressor, paired with hose coupling and ARB braided air compressor lines.
Remote comminications has been sorted with a GME UHF radio and antenna mounted securely to the bull bar. Lastly, an ARB Base Rack with a wind deflector is added for extra gear storage and to minimize wind noise along with providing a mounting point for lighting.
76 Series Coil Conversion & GVM Upgrade
The factory suspension has received a significant upgrade with the original 3500kg suspension replaced with a Jmacx Coil Conversion and GVM Upgrade, elevating the Gross Vehicle Mass to 3900kg.
Complementing the GVM upgrade is the installation of Electric Alpha Shocks, offerring up to 32 levels of adjustment of valving with in cab control providing superior handling and comfort on even the most challenging terrains.
Custom Electrical System
The electrical system is overhauled to cater to the LandCruiser's enhanced capabilities and additional accessories. A Megalife Battery, coupled with a Deep Cycle Slim 200Ah, supplies ample power for all accessories while reducing weight. A custom battery bracket has been used, a testimate to the level of detail for this special-edition build.
A Redarc BCDC Charger is included to ensure the auxiliary batteries are consistently charged. Additionally, a heavy-duty Engel Socket, Midi Fuse and Anderson plugs are installed for reliable power and accessory connections.
Custom Features
Customization has been a key focus in this build, starting with a custom designed SwitchPro facia and a SwitchPro 12 switch Panel, offering streamlined control of all electrical accessories. A Cruisemaster On Board Air Kit has also been added, useful for pneumatic tools and ease of tire inflation.
Light Bars for Toyota LandCruiser
Night and low light visibility has been enhanced through several lighting upgrades. Up front and centre Halogen Headlight Globes and multiple Narva EX2 Light Bars ensure clear vision in all conditions. The inclusion of an EX2-R Bluetooth Module allows for lighting control via a mobile app, adding convenience and flexibility both on and off the campsite.
76 Series LandCruiser Engine Protection
The 4.5-litre turbo-diesel V8 has been protected from with a Preline-Plus Pre-Filter, ensuring the engine runs efficiently by filtering out harmful contaminants. Additionally, a Provent Ultimate Catch Can is employed to prevent oil and other contaminants from causing buildup within the engine.
Diff and transfer breathers are fitted to maintain dry components during water crossings.
Interior Modifications
The interior of this 76 Series hasn’t been forgotten with an aftermarket Kenwood Head Unit installed with rear and front cameras to navigate tight spaces both on and off the road. Stripping the interior, Car Builders Sound Deadening was fitted to reduce resonance to reduce echo and exterior noise.
A Department of Interior Centre Console improves functionality with doors also upgraded with additional arm rests, upgraded speakers and usb outlets.
Future Plans
The TPC isn’t done yet with this Cruiser set to recevie a Brown Davis Long Range Tank with Hayman Reese Towbar to extend the vehicle's range for lengthy, remote trips.
