  • Essential recovery gear for most situations includes:

    • Snatch straps for pulling vehicles out of bogs.

    • Recovery tracks or traction boards to regain traction on slippery surfaces.

    • Shovel for digging out sand, mud, or snow.

    • Bow shackles or soft shackles to safely attach recovery gear to vehicles.

    • Tire deflator and air compressor for managing tire pressure on different terrains.

    • Winch (if applicable), along with a winch dampener, tree trunk protector, and gloves.

  • Recovery boards, like MaxTrax, provide traction under tires on slippery surfaces (sand, mud, snow). To use them, dig a bit around each stuck tire, place the boards in the tire tracks, and drive slowly onto them for additional traction.

  • Never attach recovery gear to a tow ball or any part not rated for recovery. Use rated recovery points or hooks found on the chassis or aftermarket components such as bullbars or towbars. When in doubt, refer to the vehicle’s manual, as attachment points & ratings vary.
